Suriya’s epic fantasy film Kanguva continues to thrive at the box office, defying audience reviews that have been largely mediocre. According to Sacnilk, the movie has earned an impressive ₹53.85 crore in India over four days, with day four alone contributing ₹10.50 crore to its total collection.
The Siva directorial opened to a spectacular ₹24 crore on its first day, including ₹14.9 crore from Tamil Nadu. Despite criticism from audiences, Kanguva has maintained positive momentum, with no major competitors currently challenging its run. Industry experts predict the film will soon surpass the ₹100 crore milestone and could target ₹150 crore in the coming weeks.
Amid the mixed reviews, actor Jyothika, Suriya’s wife, took to Instagram to defend the film and celebrate its achievements. “I pen this note as Jyothika and a cinema lover and not actor Suriya’s wife,” she wrote. She acknowledged the flaws in the film, particularly in its opening half hour, but praised its overall cinematic impact. “Flaws are a part of most Indian films, but Kanguva is an absolute cinematic experience. The camera work and execution are unprecedented in Tamil cinema.”
