Euro 2020: Finland win their first ever match in a major tournament against Denmark

Finland beat Denmark in Copenhagen on Saturday in an unforeseen day that saw Christian Eriksen collapsing on the field and being taken to the hospital for treatment, the match restarted three hours later after Christian Eriksen’s condition became stable and he was able to talk to his fellow teammates.

Finland registered their first-ever win in its maiden Euro outing and this is the first time that Finland has beaten Denmark at their home since 1949. Joel Pohjanpala scored a header past Schmeichel in the 60th minute of the game and sealed the win for Finland, he didn’t celebrate the goal, keeping in mind the condition of Eriksen who is now in a stable condition.

Players from both teams showed their respect and sportsmanship in today’s game, fans from all over the world sent their good wishes to the Inter Milan star midfielder, but they couldn’t win the game against Finland after his tragic event, it can be said that Eriksen will be out of the hospital soon and might make a comeback to the squad and help them in winning the upcoming matches in their group against Belgium and Russia, these games will be very important for them to qualify for the knockout stages.
