Heartbreaking start for Scotland’s first appearance at a major tournament in 23 years after they ended up 2-0 in favour of the Czech Republic.
Patrik Schick scored a brace beating David Marshall, one before and one after the halftime that gave victory to the Czechs at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
Almost 12,000 fans were present at the stadium for the game but not enough due to the Pandemic restrictions. The football fans of Scotland encircled Glasgow’s Euros fan zone singing the national anthem before their huge competition since the World Cup in France which was 23 years ago.
The Czech Republic got a chance to lead early at minute 13′ when they won a free-kick but missed it. Another chance for them through Schick at minute 16′ when David Marshall denied it but not for long as the Bundesliga striker Schick ends it against them by scoring on either side of the halftime. He opened the scoring at minute 42′ just before the half break whistle and the other one from a range and doubled his side’s lead and a brace for him at minute 52′ in the second half.
Brace hero Patrik gets awarded with a UEFA Star of the match for his outstanding performance and two goals.

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson deserves to be appreciated for the six chances he created against the Czech Republic, which is most by a player in a single match at Euro 2020 yet, it’s just that Scotland couldn’t turn it into a favourable finishing.
“Disappointed but ready for the next one”, said the Scottish manager Steve Clarke about their performance.
