Family Guy is set to return with new episodes, and fans are in for a treat with its latest parody. A newly released sneak peek reveals that the long-running animated series will take on the iconic 1986 action film Top Gun in its signature comedic style.
The upcoming episode, part of Family Guy’s 23rd season, will see Peter Griffin—voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane—step into the shoes of Tom Cruise’s character, Maverick. True to the film, Peter will even share a romantic moment with Charlie, originally played by Kelly McGillis. In a hilarious nod to the movie, Peter is also seen serenading her at a bar, just as Cruise’s Maverick did. However, it remains unclear whether Peter will perform You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, the famous Righteous Brothers’ ballad featured in Top Gun.
Adding to the fun, Peter’s wife, Lois—voiced by Alex Borstein—will take on the role of Charlie, while Stewie Griffin, also voiced by MacFarlane, appears in a character resembling Val Kilmer’s Iceman. Another highlight of the parody includes a recreation of Top Gun’s legendary beach volleyball scene, complete with sunglasses and sunscreen.
Family Guy returns on February 16, 2025, and fans can expect another round of sharp-witted humor and pop culture satire.
