Fans react to the latest Five Nights at Freddy’s trailer

2023 has already seen more famous video game adaptations than any previous year, so it’s natural that the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” film is shaping up to be one of the season’s biggest horror releases. The forthcoming film, based on the hit video game series of the same name, features Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, whose night security guard job at a pizza restaurant takes a turn for the worst when he finds that tits animatronic creatures are secretly possessed killers.

At this point, it seems safe to assume that both casual viewers and fans of the original video game franchise are liking the newest “Five Nights at Freddy’s” trailer. In fact, social media has been flooded with positive reactions to the trailer in the hours after it was released. Here’s what fans love the most about this trailer.

Fans of FNAF love the Scream reference in the new trailer

Along with Josh Hutcherson, the cast of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” includes Elizabeth Lail, YouTuber CoryxKenshin and Matthew Lillard. The latter actor will be starring in the movie as Steve Raglan/William Afton, whose role in the whole story of the original “Five Nights at Freddy’s” video games is better kept unspoiled for those who are unaware.

However, the movie’s latest trailer not only referred to Afton’s greater role in the story, but it also managed to  pack in a last-minute reference to Lillard’s performance as Stu Macher in another famous horror title, 1996’s “Scream.” The teaser ends with one of the film’s villainous animatronics, Spring Bonnie/Springtrap, cleaning a big knife in the same way that the Ghostface murderers have done throughout the “Scream” franchise.

Fans of the FNAF adore its realistic effects

Most “Five Nights at Freddy’s” fans appear to agree that the film’s central animatronic murderers look fantastic. The film’s creative crew, in particular, collaborated with artists at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to bring its possessed killers to life as practically as possible.

Based on the first reactions to the film’s latest trailer, it appears that the decision has already paid off nicely.
