IndiGo Airlines is facing intense criticism as widespread flight cancellations continue to disrupt travel across the country. With hundreds of flights grounded daily, including more than 1,000 cancellations on 5 December alone, passengers have been left stranded at major airports just as the holiday rush begins. Several public figures have voiced their frustration, and filmmaker Farah Khan is the latest to join the conversation through humour.
On Sunday, Farah shared a meme on Instagram, taking a lighthearted dig at the airline’s ongoing crisis. The clip, pulled from the first season of Indian Idol where she judged alongside Sonu Nigam and Anu Malik, humorously reimagined the three judges as IndiGo staff members.
In the video, Farah tells a contestant, “According to me, you can’t come to Mumbai,” while the contestant responds, “I didn’t come here to go to Mumbai; I came here to meet you all. I’ve been awake for 24 hours, now I’ll sleep.”Farah captioned the post “Best!!” with laughing emojis, clearly referencing the chaos passengers are currently experiencing.
The situation has also drawn reactions from actors Gul Panag, Jay Bhanushali and Lauren Gottlieb. Lauren, seen at the airport with her luggage, described the airport as “an apocalypse,” adding that flights to Dubai including hers, had all been cancelled. She warned travellers, saying she felt “traumatised” and urged people to avoid flying IndiGo for the time being. With cancellations affecting major hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, the disruption has impacted tens of thousands of passengers nationwide.
