The filmmakers of the upcoming Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Toofan’ have finally announced its release on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video on July 16, 2021.
The theatrical release of the movie was deferred due to the second-wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, after which it was scheduled to be released on Amazon Prime from May 21. However, due to unavoidable circumstances the release was pushed to a later date.
‘Toofan’ will star Farhan Akhtar in the lead role alongside Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur, Hussain Dalal, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Darshan Kumaar and Vijay Raaz.
The plot revolves around the life of an orphan boy born in Mumbai’s Dongri area who grows up to be a local goon. However, his life changes when he meets a woman, who motivates him to chase his passion as he embarks oh his journey to become a renowned boxer.
Post Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the project marks the second collaboration of Farhan Akhtar with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the film is based on a sport-based plot.
Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter and Instagram to officially announce the release date along with a brand new poster, quoting, “With humility, love and in dedication to the fighting spirit of the beautiful people of our nation, our film ‘Toofan’ will be releasing on July 16th #ToofanOnPrime”
