Farida Jalal shares honest reaction to Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has made a notable entry into the entertainment industry as a director with the Netflix web series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and reactions continue to pour in from within the film fraternity. Veteran actor Farida Jalal, who shares a close bond with Shah Rukh Khan after working with him in iconic films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, recently shared her thoughts on Aryan’s debut.

In an interview with Zoom, Farida was asked whether she had watched Aryan’s first project and how she felt about it. Welcoming him warmly into the industry, she said Aryan belongs to the world of cinema and described his entry as a natural progression. She confirmed that she had watched the series and found it to be a good attempt, though she felt there was room for improvement.

Sharing her honest opinion, Farida said the show was “okay” and added that Aryan could have done it better, while also acknowledging that the overall effort was good. Her comments reflected encouragement rather than criticism, offering a seasoned perspective on a young filmmaker’s first step.

Aryan Khan made his directorial debut on September 18 last year with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, a satirical comedy that looks at the inner workings of the Hindi film industry. Starring Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba and Bobby Deol, the series explores power struggles in Bollywood and the challenges faced by outsiders. The show also features Anya Singh, Mona Singh and Manoj Pahwa, and went on to be named IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Series of 2025.
