Farmers protest: Clashes at Singhu border, 44 arrested so far

A clash between the ‘local’ residents at the Singhu border and the farmers led to the arrest of 44 people by the Delhi police. One of them was a 22-year-old named Ranjeet Singh attacked the station house officer (SHO) of Alipur Pradeep Paliwal.

On Friday at around 1:30pm, a large group of locals comprising of nearly 200 local villagers went to the border and asked the protestors to leave the area so that the border can be opened. The farmers refused and escalated and resulted in stone pelting. The police had to use tear gas and baton charge to control the situation.

The SHO Pradeep Paliwar was attacked by Rajdeep Singh during the clash. He and five other police officers sustained injuries due to the clash.
