Farmers’ Protest: Tikait to tour 5 states to gather support

Rakesh Tikait is the farmer leader being credited for reviving the agitation against Centre’s farm laws. He will be touring five states in March to drum up support for the movement, BKU leader said. This tour of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader will begin on March 1.

BKU media in-charge Dharmendra Malik said, “Farmers’ meetings will be held in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, while two meetings will also be held in Uttar Pradesh in March.”

Rakesh Tikait is leading the farmers’ protest from the Ghazipur (Delhi-UP) border, which is one of the three protest sites where thousands of farmers have been camping for nearly 100 days seeking repeal of the Centre’s agricultural reform laws.

The government has held 11 rounds of formal talks with the protesting farm unions, maintains that the laws are pro-farmer.
