FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Brazil beat Ecuador 2-0, Richarlison and Neymar scored goals

Brazil beat Ecuador 2-0 in an insipid World Cup qualifier in Porto Alegre on Friday. Brazil is at the top of the table in the South American qualifying group for Qatar 2022 by winning all five matches they have played. Brazil has 15 points where Ecuador is at the third spot with 9 points. Brazil was the better side in the match and they maintain their 100% record in the CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In the first half, both the teams were playing good football as the first half ended with a 0-0 scoreline but the host played some good attacking football in the second half of the match. Richarlison scored the first goal for Brazil in the 65th minute when Neymar beautifully assisted the ball on Richarlison’s feet. Just minutes before Full-time, Gabriel Jesus was brought down by Ecuador’s player in the box and conceded a penalty.

The Paris St Germain striker saw his first attempt saved but was allowed to retake the kick after the referee spotted movement before the ball was struck. He scored a goal while retaking the penalty. Neymar has 1 goal and 1 assist in the match. Ecuador’s team will be disappointed with their performance as they have Zero shots on target. They were also outplayed in possession stats.

Brazil’s qualifications are looking easy from here on because the top four teams in the section qualify automatically for Qatar 2022.

Ecuador will play against Peru in the next match while Brazil will face Paraguay. Both the match will be played on 8th June.
