Fire breaks out at Serum Institute of India in Pune

News agency Asian News International (ANI) reported a fire break out at Terminal 1 Gate of Serum Institute of India Plant in Pune. Blaze is reported to be at the BCG manufacturing section of SII, on its second floor.

12 Fire tenders rushed to the fire site to dispose of the fuming flames and 3 people have been rescued. Police and local administration officials have reached SII.

The cause for the fire is yet to be discovered.

Serum Institute is an Indian biotechnology and pharmaceuticals company. It is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer. SII is manufacturing the Coronavirus vaccine ‘Covishield’ developed by Oxford University and  AstraZeneca.
