Football coach Nanda Kishore Patnaik passes away due to COVID-19 complications

Renowned football coach, Nanda Kishore Patnaik passed on 31st May, Monday night while undergoing treatment at a  private hospital for COVID-19. Patnaik created a large number of players on the national and international levels. He tested positive for the virus on May 12 and got admitted to Baripda Covid hospital.

Later on, he was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneshwar for better treatment but due to a low level of oxygen and widespread inflammations and infections in the lungs, but he lost the battle against the highly contagious virus on Monday night.

National level player, Ranjita Mohanty who was a student of Patnaik, said that he was a pioneer in building new talents and was a huge inspiration for budding players. I can’t express my sorrows and grief after hearing this tragic news, he had played the most pivotal role in building my career as a professional player. Many players have lost a  lovable and affectionate coach today and he will always remain in our hearts forever, may his soul rest in peace.

He had helped many players in building their professional careers and very often he would forget his personal and family life due to his dedication to this beautiful sport.
