Former Australia head coach, Ange Postecoglou has been appointed by Celtic as their head manager ahead of next season to restore their dominance in Scottish football.
The 55-year-old has signed a 12-month rolling contract with Celtic and fills the vacancy permanently, it was left open when Neil Lennon resigned in late February. Ange joined Celtic from Yokohama F Marinos, where he won the J league title with them. He has also won Premiership and Championship titles in Australia’s A league. He has also guided Australia to their first-ever Asian Cup title in 2015.
Postecoglou said “The opportunity that has been given to me is one of the greatest honours in football and the responsibility to lead our magnificent football club into the future is one that I will cherish dearly. Celtic is one of the names in World football, it is a giant club, a proper footballing institution and so much more- real history, real substance, real authenticity and a real soul.”
Celtic were also in talks with Bournemouth coach, Eddie howe, but the talks broke down with the English man in late May and they decided to sign Postecoglou instead of him.
