Former cricketer Shiv Sundar Das appointed as batting coach of Indian women’s team

Former India men’s Test opener Shiv Sundar Das has been designated as the batting coach of the Indian women’s team.

On Monday, May 17, former India men’s Test opener Shiv Sundar Das has been designated as the batting coach of the Indian women’s team. Just after the selection of Ramesh Powar as head coach by BCCI,  Shiv Sundar Das has been named after the recommendation of  Indian Cricket head Rahul Dravid.

He will now travel to England, along with the women’s team, where the women’s team is scheduled to play one Test, three ODIs, and T20I.

Shiv Sundar Das had gained the experience of batting with Rahul Dravid at the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore. And he said that this experience will definitely benefit the women’s cricket team. Between 2000 and 2002, he had played 23 Tests for India.

 “It is a good experience and I am looking forward to it,” Das said. 

According to him to overcome the technical problems of the batsmen experience play a major role. He said, ‘I was part of NCA for 4-5 years and have been a batting coach for some time. I am thankful to Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly who gave me this opportunity.” He had also toured Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Australia in 2019-2020 from the women’s side.
