The World Test Championship (WTC) final is soon to be played in Southampton from June 18th-22nd. Just three weeks before this mega clash, Ajit Agarkar said that Virat Kohli’s team would not underestimate New Zealand in the inaugural WTC final. As before this big clash New Zealand are to face England in two Tests at Lord’s which is from 2nd June-6th June and Edgbaston which starts from 10th June-14th June.
The former Indian pacer said on the Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’ that he hopes not or he doesn’t think the Indian team would be guilty to underestimate the Blackcaps. He though said that the underdog tag has gone away from Kiwis. In every ICC tournament, the people look ok, but this is the first of its kind, Test Championship that every ICC tournament, whether it is the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy, the World Cup, they all always turn up and they’re always there in the thereabout.
He further added that if not the finals, then in the quarterfinals or the semi-finals. Also, that is a statement to the New Zealand team’s consistency. So, the undergo tag should go away. Though there are big names in other teams and that’s the people who count them as favourites. So he doesn’t think India will be underestimating them. The New Zealand team has good records against India when India had toured in New Zealand and the conditions are likely to be similar. So, India will have to play to defeat the Blackcaps in the upcoming final.
