Although with the success in U-19 cricket always never confirms your place in the senior national team. Tons of promising U-19 players have failed to make their next big step in their respective careers. The same story belongs to Smith Patel who was a star at the 2012 U-19 World Cup and had retired from all forms of cricket under the BCCI ( Board of Control for Cricket in India) to play international cricket for the USA.
He informed IndiaToday that it is not a decision that he had taken all of a sudden. For the past one and half months, he was pondering on his cricketing future in India. There were a couple of reasons for his decision to retire from the BCCI and move to the US. Firstly, he was trying to spot his place in the national team for the past eight years. The competition in India for a wicket-keeper batsman was so immense. Secondly, he wanted to stay close to his parents, who are living in the US along for the past 11 years.
Patel is still 28 years old with the best of his cricketing career lying ahead and now he will have a chance in his quest for redemption. he will play for a new team on the road with moving from one country to another. It will be chaotic, but he had always dreamt to score huge runs, centuries and victories.
