Formula 1 2021: Imola grand prix lineup and prediction

Formula 1 returns to action after a three-week gap for the Imola Grand Prix.

The qualifying session took place this evening which placed the grid as follows

Hamilton took pole, making it his 99th pole. He was followed by Perez and Max, just 0.087 seconds separating them.  To the surprise of many, Red Bull’s new signing Sergio Perez beat his teammate Max Verstappen to qualify on the front row.

Several teams look in contention to be best of the rest, including local favourites Alpha Tauri and Ferrari who have set some very impressive laps in practice and qualifying to please the Italian fans.

Sunday’s Imola Grand Prix is a 63-lap race on a 4.9km long circuit. The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari consists of 19 corners and a solitary DRS zone. The Imola Grand Prix is happening for a second successive year after returning to the Formula 1 calendar last season for the first time since 2006.

The Imola Grand Prix race will take place on 18th April 2021, at 6:30 PM (IST) time.

Our predictions for the race:

For the podium, based on the qualifying and practice rounds, it feels like Hamilton is going to finish P1, unless there are any issues that occur during the race. Followed by Max at P2 and Perez at P3.

For the people in points , we feel Charles Leclerc will lose out on his position due to Ferrari being slower on straights. Hence, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Riccardo might overtake him, in the order mentioned above.

It will be tough fight for points between Estaban Ocon, Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz. We feel Lance Stroll might lose out on points due to their car struggling due to it being low rake.

With the 2 redbulls on pole, it’s definitely going to be a tight race on the top.
