Gang posed as crime branch officials, busted by Cops in Mumbai

The gang looted ₹1.24 lakh cash, a digital video recorder (DVR) and a laptop under the pretext of carrying out a search of his office.

A gang who raided a businessman’s office at Khetwadi in South Mumbai posing as crime branch officials were arrested by crime branch on Sunday. The gang looted ₹1.24 lakh cash, a digital video recorder (DVR) and a laptop under the pretext of carrying out a search of his office.

On the charges of cheating, robbery and impersonation, the crime branch unit 2 have arrested Javed Khan. The other five gang members include Arjun Pawar, Yogesh Bhoir, Mahesh Salve, Ravi Padyachi and Vijay Godke. They have been arrested by the police as well.

Mahesh Jain, the owner of Satyam Impex office was told by this gang that they were from crime branch and were raiding his office over some illegal business activities back in November 2019, as said by the police. All the valuables were then taken by the gang members. Mahesh Jain was said to be taken to their Matunga office. While on their way in a cab, Jain says that they received a call from their branch (possibly other gang members) stating that they have raided the wrong office and they were looking for some another Jain. That was when Mahesh Jain realised that he was looted and fooled by these gang members.

After a strict investigation, the gang was finally caught by the cops.
