Gigi Hadid released on bail after dramatic arrest for possessing marijuana in Cayan Islands

Summer vacation for supermodel Gigi Hadid did not begin well. As per eonline.com, Hadid and her companion Leah McCarthy were arrested and then released when customs officers found marijuana in their possession.

According to Cayman Marl Road, customs officers allegedly found “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in Hadid and her friend’s luggage immediately after they landed through a private jet.

As to the reports, the supermodel and her friend were taken into custody on “suspicion of Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils Used for the Consumption of Ganja,” and were afterwards taken to the Prisoner Detention Center, where they were released on bail.

Hadid and her friend were formally charged two days later, on July 12, at a court appearance, in which they pled guilty and were each fined USD 1,000, as per Cayman Marl Road. They are not facing any charges.

“Gigi was travelling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license,” her representative told E! News. “It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
