‘Gone Girl’ actor Lisa Banes dies at 65 after being hit by a motorcycle in a hit-and-run case

Film and television actor Lisa Banes, who has appeared in well-known movies such as Gone Girl and A Cure for Wellness, has died at the age of 65 after being struck by a motorcycle in a reported hit-and-run case in New York City. The spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed that Banes died, and it was reported that Banes died Monday at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. The report also added that the driver of the motorcycle did not stop even after she was initially struck, which may have been the cause of the unfortunate death.

Kathryn Kranhold, Banes’ wife had confirmed previously about her condition after the accident took place. According to reports, the actor was on her way to a restaurant where she was supposed to meet Kranhold when she was struck. Unfortunately, after a battle of 10 days, Banes passed away.

Banes was born in Ohio and graduated from Juilliard. She was known for her works in movies like Young Guns, A Cure for Wellness, as well as the work she is known for the most – Gone Girl in which she plays Marybeth Elliott, the mother of Amy Elliott, played by Rosamund Pike. She also appeared in a number of television series including The Orville, Nashville, Royal Pains, and Masters of Sex. Banes also performed on Broadway several times, where she played Cassie in the Neil Simon play Rumors in the year1988, Margaret Lord in the musical High Society in 1998 too, as well as appearing in Accent on Youth in 2009, and more recently in the year 2010 in the reboot of a play called Present Laughter.
