Google introduces AI-powered ‘memories’ feature for Google Photo; Here’s everything you need to know

Google Photos is getting a major AI-powered upgrade that will make it much easier to search and share a huge library of photographs and videos.

Following earlier leaked previews, Google has now officially unveiled an exciting upgrade to the Memories feature that has been in development for a very long time. The feature now has its own dedicated tab within the Google Photos app and features automatically curated content that is now presented in a vertically scrolling format that is more similar to a social media feed.

Based on known people, places and events, the new Memories tab uses AI to create “scrapbook-like” collages of content from your library. You have the option to keep or hide content as you see fit and you can now start fresh when creating new Memories using Google’s AI.

AI-assisted features include suggestions for meaningful titles for Memories based on their content. The new “Help me title” option will display a list of recommended titles, which you may re-roll as many times as you like.

Another major update is the ability to collaborate on Memories with other people, similar to how shared albums now work. This implies that your increasing collection of Memories might start to include all of the greatest moments and points of view of all those involved, rather than just your own.

Google is also offering the ability to share your Memories outside of Google Photos by exporting them as video clips that can be published directly to social media or shared via messaging applications in the near future.
