The tech giant, Google has agreed to pay over $2.6 million in settlements and more than 5000 underpaid female employees & nearly 3000 applicants who were overlooked for the job to resolve a 4 year old case of pay discrimination against it’s female engineers & Asians in the State of California and Washington.
The US Labor Department announced the settlement on Feb 01. During their inquiry the US Labor Department found that during the period of 2014 – 2017 Google paid its female engineers less than male counterparts in similar job positions. The discrepancies were cited in various Google offices in California, Seattle & Kirkland, Washington, D.C.
Google had previously denied these allegations before reaching a settlement but without commenting & acknowledging any wrongdoings.
