On Tuesday, reports suggesting Bollywood actor Govinda was divorcing his wife, Sunita Ahuja, after 38 years of marriage created a stir online. However, the actor’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, has denied these claims, confirming that the couple is back together.
In an interview with India Today, Bindal revealed that Sunita Ahuja had indeed filed for divorce six months ago, but the couple has since resolved their differences. “We even travelled to Nepal during the New Year and performed puja together at Pashupatinath Mandir. Everything is fine between them now,” he stated, adding that such misunderstandings are common in marriages.
Addressing rumours about the couple living separately, the lawyer clarified that Govinda had purchased a bungalow opposite their apartment after becoming an MP, primarily for official use. He explained that the actor occasionally stays there for meetings but continues to share his home with Sunita and their children.
Bindal also criticized how Sunita’s recent podcast statements were misinterpreted. For instance, when she said, “Mujhe Govinda jaisa pati nahi chahiye, she also expressed her desire for a son like him.Or when she mentioned that he was with his own Valentine, she meant he was working. It is unfortunate that people are focusing only on the negative when the couple is together, and I can assure you that they always will be. No divorce is going to happen.”
Govinda and Sunita married secretly in 1987, revealing their marriage only after the birth of their daughter, Tina Ahuja, in 1988. The couple also shares a son, Yashvardhan, born in 1997. Despite recent speculations, their lawyer assures that the couple remains strong and will not divorce.
