FC Barcelona edge 2-1 over Villareal with the help of a brace from Antoine Grizemann in the fiirst half.
The team in black looked comfortable in the first half, with their lively counter. Breaking passes to the flanks, occupying spaces, proper circulation throughout the field.
However, it was Villareal who scored the first goal after a great goal by Samu Chukwueze. Their celebrations didn’t last long as 2 minutes after that, Mingueza delivered a fantastic lob over Sergio Asenjo to pick out Grizemann, who seized the gift to equalise. A truly sensational finish.
That wasn’t enough, as Grizemann scored again after a defensive error from Villareal.
The second half was a completely different game. Villareal dominated the possession, were more menacing on the attack and created spaces to give Barcelona defensive trouble. Even after a horrid foul on Messi, which led to Manu Trigueros being sent off, Barcelona still couldn’t seize the opportunity. Viillareal were the better team even after being cut to 10-men.
Nevertheless, it was Barcelona who came out on top by very slim margins. The top of the table is heating up with Barcelona 2 points behind Atletico Madrid. They face each other off on 8th April in a title deciding match. If Barcelona win their next 6 games, they’ll be crowned champions.
