GST Council special session to be held to review compensation issues

Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister on Thursday proposed that a special session of the GST Council will be held soon to review all compensation issues.

The Finance Minister assured that every state’s compensation will be worked out, in an response to a question regarding GST compensation to Karnataka. The Minister, on being asked about the kind of expenditure budgeted for the compensation said, “I can’t tell you off the cuff. There are amounts which are determined based on the formula which was arrived at the last year  and that is the basis on which the distribution will start.”

On the grounds of demand for vaccine from several states, the Finance Minister affirmed that every states will receive the allocation of vaccines in accordance to the density of the population/ number of vulnerable population. She asserted that the centre supplies vaccines will in advance to the states and further assured that everyone will be vaccinated.

Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman visited Boeing India and the SELCO Foundation funded 100 oxygenated bed facility at Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL), Yelahanka campus in the city. Boeing India along with SELCO Foundation funded the hospital. Doctor for You (DFY) facilitated the staff and care for the hospital and KPCL have provided the land for its set up. On these efforts, the Finance Minister expressed, “It is commendable that the industries and NGOs have collaborated with the government in our fight against COVID-19.”

According to reports, the hospital was set up in ln less than 20 days. Among the 100 oxygen beds, 10 beds are allotted for ICU service and 20 beds are for the High Dependency Units ward. The Hospital provides facilities like triage, donning and doffing, pharmacy, laboratory, rest area, meeting room for medical staffs and nurse station.
