Gujarat local body elections 2021: BJP prevails with supremacy

Gujarat Local Body Elections 2021 results were announced on Tuesday, March 2. The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) continues to retain its dominance in Gujarat, while Congress’ performance can be classified as a debacle. Delhi-ruling Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) performed quite impressively.

The BJP has won 1,967 seats in the Nagar Palika elections, Congress 356 while AAP has nine seats. In the district panchayat elections, BJP won 735 panchayat seats, Congress 157, and AAP on 2 seats.

BJP was leading in 75 municipalities of all the 81 in total. Congress leads in 4 municipalities while AAP stays ahead in two.

BJP had a major win in the key municipal corporations of Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar. AAP bagged 27 seats in Surat. BJP performed exceedingly well as it won 483 seats last week as compared to 389 in 2015.
