The city is dealing with flooding in a huge expanse of low-lying areas when the Vishwamitri river, which runs through it, exceeded its banks and flooded residential neighbourhoods, inundating buildings, roads, and automobiles. Following the flash floods, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and its state counterpart SDRF relocated around 3,000 individuals who lived in low-lying areas in and around Vadodara to safer locations.

Following torrential rains and the release of dam water, the river crossed the 25-foot danger mark on Tuesday morning. The floods have killed at least 28 individuals and left others trapped.
