Author Harinder Singh Sikka has ignited a fresh debate on social media with his latest remarks on the film Raazi, drawing attention at a time when Dhurandhar 2 continues to dominate headlines for its box office success.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar and its sequel have received both praise and criticism, with discussions ranging from their patriotic themes to accusations of propaganda. Amid this ongoing conversation, Sikka revisited the adaptation of his novel Calling Sehmat, which inspired the 2018 film Raazi.
Taking to social media, Sikka shared a post highlighting his book and described it as one of the top espionage works globally. However, he also expressed regret over choosing Meghna Gulzar to direct its film adaptation, calling it a “misjudgment.” He alleged that the cinematic version did not fully capture the essence of the original story.
The film, starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, was widely appreciated upon release and emerged as a major commercial success. Despite its reception, Sikka maintained that the adaptation diverged from his vision.
His remarks extended to discussions around other films as well, where he responded to online comments and reiterated his concerns about storytelling and interpretation in cinema. He also clarified that his stance is not new, stating that he has voiced similar opinions since the film’s release and continues to do so to raise awareness among audiences.
