Harley Davidson Inc is planning to launch a certified pre-owned bike program, known as H-D Certified to attract young customers.
The company hasn’t been performing well in the US markets as retail sales have reduced over the past six years. The sales for used bikes however have been three times more than the new ones as they are less expensive.
Under the program, bikes up to five years old with up to 25,000miles will be certified by the company. Those bikes will then be inspected with a 12-month limited warranty.
“It’s going to draw new riders … and will give them entry into the Harley-Davidson world,” said Brad Conn, dealership marketing coordinator.
The company already has a used bikes program active in the UK.
