On June 15 the country’s biggest private sector lender, HDFC Bank mentioned on Twitter that its mobile banking app is facing technical glitches but later the issue is resolved.

Earlier today on Twitter the bank had informed customers that the mobile app is facing some issues and we request to use the net banking services for transactions, and tweeted that, “We are experiencing some issues on the Mobile Banking App. We are looking into this on priority and will update shortly. Customers are requested to please use Net Banking to complete their transaction. Regret the inconvenience caused.”

The current technical glitch that happened at a time when the bank’s IT infrastructure was already under the Reserve Bank of India audit for a series of technical problems reported.
Later, an RBI, appointed third party-audit for the bank’s IT infrastructure and its currently underway. It disallowed presumably benefitted for its rivals, which includes ICICI Bank Ltd, and it offered them an opportunity to gain customers.
HDFC Bank is also the biggest card issuers in the country with 15 million credit cards and 33.8 million debit cards as of December 2020 end. HDFC Bank’s retail portfolio is now grown by around 7 per cent in the year ended March 2021. And the current retail franchise of HDFC Bank has expanded and its credit cards business by 12 per cent and home loans by around 10 per cent.
