Health Ministry says pregnant women now eligible for vaccination

To get vaccinated, pregnant women can now register on CoWin or walk into the nearest COVID-19 vaccination centre, as mentioned by the Union health ministry on Friday. For COVID-19 control and containment measures, teams were rushed to six states which include Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha Chhattisgarh and Manipur by the Central government.

India recorded around 46,617 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. While on the other hand, against the rapidly spreading Delta variant along with other highly prevalent SARS-CoV-2 viral variants Johnson and Johnson announced data that demonstrated its single-shot COVID-19 vaccine that generated strong and persistent activity. The durability of the immune response lasted for at least 8 months, as shown by the data.

At a limited number of centres in Mumbai today, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has mentioned that COVID-19 vaccination shall take place only for 3 hours starting from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. It also mentioned that in Mumbai Covishield shall only be given to people above 45 years of age while Covaxin shall be given only for the second dose.

Meanwhile, the administration of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V has been begun by the private hospital chains Fortis Healthcare and Apollo hospitals at two of their facilities in Delhi-NCR, as mentioned by officials. The administration of Sputnik V in a staged manner has been commenced by Indraprastha Apollo in Delhi from Wednesday while around 1000 people have been vaccinated so far.
