Hearing in Choksi’s illegal entry into the nation case adjourned till June 25 by Dominica court

The hearing into the alleged illegal entry of fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi into the Caribbean island nation has been adjourned by a Dominica Magistrate Court till 25th June as reported by local media there. The hearing on the case of Mehul Choksi’s illegal entry into the country on 23rd May was to be started by the Magistrate Court on Monday but he was a no show according to a report by Natureislenews. A medical certificate from the doctors of Dominica China Friendship Hospital was submitted by Choksi’s legal team. In the certificate, he is held of mental stress and elevated blood pressure.

A statement was issued on Monday claiming new evidence which shows Barbara Jabarica, the woman with whom Mehul Choksi was last seen, sought booking of accommodation with a jetty. The statement was issued by Michael Polak, Choksi’s lawyer in London.

Jabarica is suspected to be a part of Choksi’s kidnapping from Antigua as alleged by him. Videos showing two boats which Polak alleged to have been used to transport a gagged and beaten Choksi to open seas where he was transferred to a bigger boat to be taken to Dominica.

India was fled by Choksi and Nirav Modi, his nephew in the first week of January 2018 weeks before the Indian banking industry was rocked by the scam in Punjab National Bank. Modi was held in London where he is contesting his extradition to India while the citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda was taken by Mehul Choksi in 2017 where he was staying since his escape from Delhi.
