 
									Officials said that two people committed suicide in West Bengal’s Bankura and Odisha’s Jajpur after India lost against Australia in the cricket World Cup final.
Following India’s six-wicket defeat against Australia in Ahmedabad, Rahul Lohar, 23, took the extreme step near a cinema hall around 11 p.m. on Sunday in Beliatore police station area of Bankura.
According to police, Lohar’s brother-in-law Uttam Sur stated that he hung himself in his room after being heartbroken by the match result.
As per a police official, his body was taken to the Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital on Monday morning for a post-mortem examination and a case of unnatural death was filed.
Another 23-year-old man was found hanging from the terrace of his house in the Binjharpur region of Odisha’s Jajpur right after the match on Sunday night, police said.
According to what his uncle informed the police, the deceased, Dev Ranjan Das, was undergoing treatment for “emotional disorder syndrome.”
The family member stated that he left home in despair after India lost the final.
“We have registered an unnatural death case, and are awaiting the autopsy report,” said Indramani Juanga, Officer-in-Charge of Jari Outpost.
