Dheeraj Kumar, who starred in Manoj Kumar’s Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and produced popular TV series Adalat and Om Namah Shivay, passed away in a Mumbai hospital on July 15. Industry professionals and family members came together to offer condolences and pay their respects during a prayer service held in his honour on Friday.
Hema was spotted at the prayer meeting as well. She honoured Dheeraj and even met with his relatives to express her sympathies. On social media, other videos showing the same thing have surfaced. Poonam Dhillon, an actor, was also spotted during the prayer meeting. At the age of 79, Dheeraj passed away. He was hospitalised to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital’s intensive care unit due to acute pneumonia.
As per PTI, his close friend Ajay Shukla told, “He passed away this morning at 11:00 am due to pneumonia at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He was unwell and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday as he was having fever, cold and cough. He was admitted to the ICU due to his age.”
According to an India Today article, Dheeraj was moved to the hospital’s intensive care unit and placed on a ventilator, but these measures eventually failed to save him. Dheeraj Kumar was well-known for his contributions to television, Hindi cinema, and Punjabi cinema.
The opening of the ISKCON temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, was one of his final public appearances. Zuby Kochar, Dheeraj’s wife, is his surviving spouse.
