Hema Malini has penned a deeply emotional tribute to her husband, the legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. The actor was recovering at home after being discharged from the hospital, received an outpouring of condolences from across the film industry. Many described his passing as the “end of an era,” but for Hema, it marked an irreplaceable personal loss.
The actor took to X to share several unseen photographs capturing intimate family moments from the past few years. In one picture, the couple is seen smiling during an anniversary celebration, adorned with a grand floral garland. Another heartfelt image shows Dharmendra holding a bouquet gifted by Hema, alongside a handwritten note reading, “Happy birthday to the love of my life.” A third photograph features Esha Deol and Dharmendra twinning in white shirts, smiling warmly for the camera.
Sharing the photos, Hema wrote, “Some lovely family moments… simply treasured photos.” In a follow-up post, she added, “I know it is a surfeit of photos but these have not been published and my emotions are unfolding as I see these.”
Dharmendra’s journey with Hema Malini began long before their marriage in 1980. The two starred in several memorable films together Seeta Aur Geeta, Jugnu, Naya Zamana, Pratigya and the iconic Sholay. Their relationship endured public scrutiny, as Dharmendra had earlier married Prakash Kaur in 1954 and was a father of four. Yet, the couple built a strong bond over the decades and welcomed two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
