Mumbai’s deteriorating air quality has begun to take a visible toll on daily life, and actor Hina Khan is among those affected. Taking to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, the actor shared her concern after experiencing health issues linked to the city’s rising pollution levels.
Hina posted a screenshot reflecting Mumbai’s poor Air Quality Index and spoke about how the polluted air has made it difficult for her to breathe comfortably. She revealed that persistent coughing and discomfort, especially during the morning hours, have forced her to cut down on outdoor activities. Expressing her frustration, the actor questioned the situation, saying that breathing freely has become increasingly difficult.
Her remarks come at a time when Mumbai has witnessed a steady rise in air pollution over the past week. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s overall AQI has climbed to 140, placing it in the ‘moderate’ category. This marks a noticeable decline in air quality compared to last week, when readings largely remained between 101 and 108.
Pollution levels have risen across multiple monitoring stations, suggesting a broader accumulation of pollutants rather than isolated incidents. Several neighbourhoods have reported particularly high AQI readings. Byculla recorded one of the worst levels at 194, followed by Mazgaon at 171. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Terminal 2, registered an AQI of 169, while Deonar reported a reading of 160.
As residents continue to grapple with the impact of poor air quality, Hina Khan’s post has drawn attention to the growing health concerns linked to pollution in the city, adding a personal voice to an issue affecting millions.
