Hockey India is honored with Etienne Glichitch Award in the 47th FIH Congress

In a virtual conference organized as part of the 47th FIH Congress by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Hockey India was honored with the Etienne Glichitch Award.

In a virtual conference organized as part of the 47th FIH Congress by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Hockey India was honored with the Etienne Glichitch Award. The FIH Honorary Awards were given in recognition to numerous individuals, teams, and organizations for their remarkable contribution to the growth and development of Hockey.

This year India is among one of the three National Associations that were honored with different awards for their contribution to hockey. On the recommendation of the awards panel, this award is given once in two years by Executive Board.

Hockey India tweeted to show its gratitude towards FIH for conferring this prestigious award. HI wrote, “We are grateful to @FIH_Hockey for conferring us with the prestigious Etienne Glichitch Award for significant contribution to the growth and development of Hockey at local, continental, national, and international level.”

Etienne Glichitch Award is named after the Honorary Secretary of the International Hockey Federation during the year 1966 to 1984 when he became the President of FIH in 1996. He had made many contributions to the upliftment of the game.

President of Hockey India Gyanendro Ningombam thanked FIH for recognizing the efforts of Hockey India to grow and develop hockey in India. He said, “On behalf of Hockey India, I thank FIH for this honor. This award is not only a recognition of our teamwork at Hockey India, but it will also greatly motivate us to continue to excel and innovate in our endeavor to grow the sport further in India and around the world.”
