Hoda Kotb’s long-time crush, Blake Shelton, makes an appearance on the Today Show to bid the host farewell

It’s Hoda Kotb’s final week as a host on The Today Show, and in a special moment, Blake Lively made an appearance to bid her farewell. During the January 8 episode of Hoda & Jenna, the country singer joined the talk show hosts via video call. Jenna Bush Hager pointed out that Shelton’s appearance was particularly meaningful since Kotb had been “in love” with him for many years.

Blake, expressing his admiration for Kotb, said, “I adore her.” He went on to share how surreal it felt watching Kotb step down after dedicating so many years to her role. He also wished her a future of relaxing at home, much like he’s been enjoying recently.

Recalling their first meeting in person, Shelton joked that Kotb had run away from him at a Nashville party. “I mean, she ran away from me, like totally afraid of me,” he laughed. Kotb and Bush Hager were taken aback by the comment, with Blake reminiscing, “I was like, ‘Hoda! You’re here!’ and you’re like, ‘I got to go!'” Kotb was quick to respond, laughing, “I’ve changed. I’m totally not that girl anymore.”

Bush Hager came to Kotb’s defense, explaining that Kotb is simply known for leaving parties early, and it wasn’t personal. Despite the teasing, the moment showed the strong bond and affection between the hosts and Shelton.
