In Hong Kong-The sisters of American pop sensation Coco Lee shared on social media that she passed away on Wednesday after attempting suicide over the weekend.
The pop queen, who had been diagnosed with depression a few years ago, had attempted suicide at home on Sunday, according to a Facebook post by Lee’s sisters Carol and Nancy. Since that time, Lee, 48, had reportedly been unconscious. Coco had been dealing with depression for a while, but over the past few months, things got much worse, the sisters claimed.
“With tremendous regret, we are here [to] give the most heartbreaking news: Coco has been dealing with depression for a few years.” Despite Coco’s efforts to combat her sadness and professional assistance, the demon inside of her ultimately won.

They mentioned how Lee’s singing career will be 30 years old in 2023 and talked about how their sister had achieved international success with her best-selling songs. “Coco is also renowned for her hard efforts to provide Chinese singers with fresh opportunities on the global music scene, and she went above and beyond to make a name for the Chinese. We are happy for her!” the two exclaimed.
Her family expressed their appreciation for the help received from the medical team and fans. They also expressed gratitude to the medical staff for trying to save her life. The Post has heard that the singer-songwriter passed away at Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam.
“We hope that everyone will not only miss Coco, but also share her bright smile, treat people with sincerity, and convey kindness and love to everyone around us,” the sisters said in a statement, adding that “her rays of light will last forever.”
