How Vidya Balan explored her role in “Sherni”

Vidya Balan is playing the role of a forest official in her upcoming film “Sherni” for which she has explored every dimension that could add to the essence of her role.

Vidya Balan is set to play the role of a forest official in her upcoming movie “Sherni” which will be screened on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video.

The actress was last seen in “Shakuntala Devi” where she played the role of a gregarious maths teacher. Her role in “Sherni” is a unique and different part to play given that she has no previous backing or knowledge about the duties of a forest official.

To understand her role better, the actress has been interacting with several forest officials and watching channels like the Nation Geographic, to understand the background in which the movie is set.

She says that the more she reads up on forests, the more she understands the demanding nature of the role she is about to play in the movie. She realises that the role is going to be no easy feat as a forest official’s profession is traditionally a male dominated one with arduous tasks that they need to perform throughout the day.

The shooting had been underway in a forest or Madhya Pradesh. Previously intimidated by the wild, Vidya has now conquered her fears and had also been strolling the forests between shoots when she felt it was safe to do so.
