Hrithik Roshan addresses War 2’s box office failure with humour at Dubai event

Actor Hrithik Roshan has spoken for the first time about the box office failure of War 2, and he did it with surprising humour. The star was in Dubai at the Coca Cola Arena for a launch event, where he received a warm welcome from the host and the audience. While the crowd cheered loudly, Hrithik used the moment to address the film’s performance in a lighthearted way.

The host called Hrithik a global icon and praised him for his long-standing career, leading to loud applause from the arena. Hrithik smiled and responded, “That’s very kind of you… You know, my film just bombed at the box office, so it feels very good to get all the love. Thank you.” His candid remark immediately caught attention online.

War 2, which released on August 14, failed to meet expectations despite being a major part of the YRF Spy Universe. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the action thriller starred Hrithik as Kabir alongside Jr NTR, Kiara Advani, and Ashutosh Rana. The film was criticised for weak writing and lacklustre VFX, surprising many fans who were expecting another blockbuster.

Recently, Hrithik had also shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, reflecting on his experience of playing Kabir again. He wrote that the role felt familiar and easy, and praised director Ayan Mukerji for making the process enjoyable.

With humour, grace, and honesty, Hrithik’s reaction shows he is taking the setback in stride as he looks ahead to his next projects.
