Huma Qureshi, riding high on the success of Delhi Crime 3 and Maharani 4, has opened up about the relentless sexism she faces on social media. Appearing on the chat show The Male Feminist, the actor spoke candidly about the toxic comments she receives about her body, clothes, and lifestyle.
Calling the experience “disgusting,” Huma revealed that men frequently message her with inappropriate requests, including demands for bikini photos. “People think they can say anything online because there are no consequences,” she said. “But the impact is the same. The trauma is the same. Harassing a woman digitally should carry the same punishment as doing it in person.”
Huma stressed that unsolicited explicit messages, sexual remarks, and criticism about a woman’s appearance must be taken seriously. “DMs are not a free-for-all space,” she said. “Sending obscene photos or passing crude comments is harassment, plain and simple.”She also called out the routine policing of women’s bodies and choices. “Commenting on how a woman dresses, works, behaves, or even how much she weighs, none of this is acceptable. Let women be.”
The actor, who made her debut in the acclaimed Gangs of Wasseypur, continues to diversify her work. In addition to her recent OTT releases and Jolly LLB 3, she earned praise for her performance as a police officer in Bayan, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
