According to the police, a 35-year-old woman’s husband claimed Wednesday that he had killed her and dumped her body parts at several places, including the nearby Jillellaguda lake, six days after she vanished from Hyderabad. The 45-year-old ex-serviceman from Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district, however, claimed to have dismembered his wife’s body after killing her and cooked the parts in a pressure cooker.
The police said Thursday they are investigating his claims. The man, who goes by Gurumurthy, is employed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Kanchan Bagh as an outsourced security guard.
“They claimed not to have discovered any body parts of P Venkata Madhavi, the woman who was allegedly abandoned by Gurumurthy. As of right now, we have not discovered any body parts while investigating his claims. The probe is progressing,” Ch Praveen Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, L B Nagar, told The Indian Express.
On January 16, Madhavi disappeared from the Meerpet neighbourhood of Hyderabad. After 13 years of marriage, Gurumurthy and Madhavi had two kids together. Living in Meerpet’s New Venkateshwara Nagar Colony, Gurumurthy first attempted to deceive them by accompanying his in-laws to file the police complaint on January 18, according to the police.
During the course of the investigation, Gurumurthy informed the police that his wife had left the house in a rage following a fight on the morning of January 16 and had not returned. The police became suspicious of the husband as the hunt for Madhavi grew more intense, and they questioned him once more.
The police claimed that Gurumurthy confessed to the crime. The cops claimed that the couple had been fighting often for a number of days. Kumar says the woman got into a fight with her husband the day she vanished because she wanted to go to her hometown of Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, for the Sankranti festival. He also mentioned that their two kids were at his sister’s house.
