‘I will sleep better’: Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola calls Jurgen Klopp best rival of his career

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stunned everyone when he suddenly announced that he would leave the Merseyside team at the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City and the German’s longtime rival, praised the 56-year-old after the shocking announcement.

“He’s an absolutely incredible manager, I don’t know him closely but I think he’s an incredible person as well,”  Pep stated during a presser after his team’s 1-0 FA Cup victory against Tottenham on Friday.

During his time at Manchester City, Klopp has been in the limelight for challenging Guardiola’s dominance, even winning the league title during the COVID-hit 2020 season.

“I have the feeling that when he leaves at the end of the season, part of us at Manchester City is leaving too. They have been our biggest rival, Liverpool in the last years,” the Spaniard said.

“All the managers will feel tired when you’ve done many years, I feel it completely. I felt it at Barcelona so I understand it completely,” Pep added, supporting Klopp’s choice to leave Liverpool following a trophy-laden 9-year time at Liverpool.

Guardiola praised Klopp as his strongest rival since joining the Premier League and quipped that he would sleep better ahead of his team’s matches against Liverpool.
