If the World Test Championship final draws, both team India and New Zealand to be declared Joint Champions

The International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Friday that if their final clash in Southampton finishes in a draw situation then both the teams India and New Zealand will be claimed as joint winners of the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC). The global body unveiled that a draw or a tie will see both teams crowned as joint champions.

The ICC has also allocated Reserve Day (sixth day) to make up the lost time during the regular day of the final which is to be played from 18 to 22 June, with 23rd June set aside as the Reserve Day for completion of the lost time. Prior to the commencement of the ICC World Test Championship, both decisions were made in June 2018.

The Reserve Day has been implemented in order to ensure five full days of play, and it will only be used if playtime gets shorts due to bad weather or loss of time which cannot be recovered through the normal provisions for the first five days. The Reserve Day will not be used for getting a winner if the match draws on day five.

The final decision on whether to use Reserve day will be announced at the scheduled start of the last hour on the fifth day. The final will be played with Grade 1 Duke balls.
