Ikkis fell to a new low on Wednesday, adding only Rs. 80 crore to the tally, continuing its downward trend. Ikkis has grossed Rs. 20.80 crore net at the Indian box office in 7 days. The film’s extended opening week is expected to gross between Rs. 21.50 crore and Rs. 22 crore.
Based on current figures, the Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia starrer would be out of theatres next week due to dismal collections compared to normal trends. Indeed, the film will struggle to attain a final gross of around Rs. 30 crore. The military drama, directed by Sriram Raghavan, failed to impress the audience, resulting in a dramatic decrease in revenues starting on the second day. Even its first-day statistic was inflated by external factors, albeit not as clearly as other recent releases.
If the film had premiered to rave reviews, it would have had a good chance of turning a profit. Unfortunately, the film has already sealed its fate, which is not good. The first film of the year has performed poorly, but there was once a belief in the industry that the first release of the year fails.
That, of course, is a superstition and not the reason why this picture, or others before it, failed to succeed. Nevertheless, Ikkis has joined that list.
