Talented Indian forward Navneet Kaur is very much eager to make it to the Tokyo Olympics. She feels the nation’s women’s side will have a memorable outing in Tokyo. The 25 – year old Kaur is currently sweating it out in the national camp at SAI, Bengaluru.
She said she’s really hopeful of making it to the 16-member squad for the Olympic games and very much excited about the forthcoming event.
The youngster said that the Indian women’s who played at the Rio Olympics lacked the experience to take on top teams in a marquee event like the Olympics. Kaur also mentions that the women’s side is working very hard on improving their fitness levels and the tactics of the game. Adding to all these she mentioned that, making it to the Olympics and has been her dream ever since her childhood.
Kaur was also a little bit distrustful as the Indian women’s side had missed on a lot of practice games due to the pandemic. “It was frustrating to lose out on more time but during these tough times, safety comes first and I’d like to thank Hockey India and the management for all their help in helping me and my teammates recover in quick time,” Navneet added.
She also looks upon her seniors and is very much determined to get her hands on an Olympic medal. She opined, my game has improved because of the experienced players who are there inside like Rani and Savita who have guided me a lot. Our team environment is like a family, where the seniors and the juniors exchange ideas about each other’s game. Our seniors motivate us to improve our performance better in special events. I hope we can use that during the Tokyo Olympics and come back with a medal, she said.
