IMD predictes Extremely Heavy Rainfall in Andhra Pradesh in Next Two days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh due to the growth of a low pressure area over the Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal off the north coast on Saturday (August 31, 2024).

IMD Director, Amaravati, has stated that it is predicted to move further west-northwestward and pass the shores of north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha between Vishakhapatnam and Gopalpur, near Kalingapatnam, around Saturday midnight.

For the following two days, it is anticipated that the water level in rivers that run through Andhra Pradesh’s coastal districts the Godavari, Krishna, and their tributaries—will rise. The Central Water Commission states that there may be an increase in the water levels in the Nagavali, Vamsadhara, Suvarnamukhi, Champavathi, Gosthani, Sarada, Varaha, Sabari, Tammileru, and Yeleru rivers. Similar cautions have also been issued by the CWC for rivers that pass through Telangana.

According to the IMD, squally winds with a top speed of 65 kmph are predicted to blow over the coast of North Andhra Pradesh, and rough sea conditions are expected to persist over the West Central and Northwest Bay of Bengal till August 31.
