In encounter with security forces in J&K’s Baramulla, top LeT militant killed

According to police, In an overnight encounter with the Security Forces in the Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, Mudasir Pandit, One of the most wanted militants was killed among three terrorists.

The encounter is said to have taken place in the Gund Brath area of Sopore in the north Kashmir district, as mentioned by Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar.

As the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the above-mentioned area following information about the presence of at least three militants, including Pandit, the encounter had then started late on Sunday night.

The IGP tweeted that Mudasir Pandit who was involved in the killing of 03 policemen, 02 councillors & 02 civilians recently along with other several terror crimes and was also a Top LeT terrorist got killed in the Sopore encounter.

Along with including the killing of two Bharatiya Janata Party councillors and a policeman during a meeting in Sopore in March this year, Pandit was wanted by security forces in many cases.

As reported a few days back, in north Kashmir’s Sopore two civilians along with two security personnel were killed in a terrorist attack as said by the officials. Including a policeman, three others were injured in the attack they added.

The joint team of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were fired upon by the suspected terrorists in the Arampora area of North Kashmir’s Sopore according to the sources. To nab the militants, the area has been cordoned off, they said.
